Obituary

William R Gilbert, age 75, of Spring Glen, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Carolyn's House Hospice, Harrisburg.

He was born on Tuesday, June 21, 1949, in Pottsville, a son of the late Roland W Gilbert and the late Arlene E (Carl) Gilbert.

He was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School.

Bill served in the US Air Force for 34 years. He served a tour of duty in both Thailand and Vietnam and retired as a Senior Master Sgt.

Bill was a true family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Ronald Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife Nussra (Koasiri) Gilbert, to whom he was married for 53 years.

He is also survived by two daughters, Alicia A (Sharif) Hewlett of Marlton, NJ, Chrissy N (Anthony) Martinez of Mechanicsville, VA; four grandchildren, Elyse E Hewlett, William A Hewlett, Mila E Martinez, and Reece D Martinez; two brothers, Kenneth Gilbert and Robert Gilbert; three sisters, Patricia Bressler, Linda Gilbert, and Ann Nanke; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc, Valley View, at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 29, 2024 with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.

Burial with Military Honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
