William S "Bill" Reed, Sr., age 88, of Waterbridge at Pine Grove, formerly of Johnstown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Waterbridge. He was born on Thursday, April 13, 1922, in Hooversville, PA, a son of the late John W Reed and Margaret E (Tantlinger) Reed He served in the Army Air Corps in Normandy during World War II. He was employed as a mine supervisor for Bethlehem Mine Corporation, Windber, Pa, until his retirement. He had attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, Johnstown. He was a Private Pilot. Bill was a charter member of the Johnstown Flying Club and a member of the Somerset Hunting and Fishing Club. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert "Bob" Reed. He is survived by his wife Ella L (Collins) Reed, to whom he was married for 63 years. He is also survived by two sons William S "Bill" Reed, Jr and his wife Monica of Camp Hill, and Leo "Kim" Reed and his wife Connie of Hegins; a daughter Michele A Siplivy and her husband Gary of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and two sisters Anna Jean Hughes of Johnstown and Eunice Kehl of Florida. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, January 3, 2011, at 12:30 PM. A viewing was held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
