Wayne I Artz, age 86, of Spring Glen, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center.

He was born on Friday, October 31, 1930, in Fearnot, a son of the late Ivan W Artz and the late Violet Edna Miller Artz.

Wayne was a truck driver and than worked as an equipment operator for PennDOT until his retirement.

He was a member of the Pine Creek United Methodist Church, Spring Glen.

Wayne was an avid Phillies fan and also enjoyed hunting and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers, Elwood Artz and Irvin Artz; and by a sister, Vera Coleman.

He is survived by his wife Ruth M Huntsinger Artz, to whom he was married for 66 years.

He is also survived by a son, James W Artz and his wife Deborah of Valley View; a granddaughter, Pamela B Sweigart and her husband Alvin of Ashland; a grandson, Shawn J Artz of Spring Glen; two great granddaughters, Megan O Boyer of Hegins and Faith E Artz of Hegins; a great grandson, Kelten B Sweigart of Ashland; several special nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, String.

Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 1:00 pm, with Rev Dan Fox officiating.

Visitation was held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial was made in St. Mark's Cemetery, Spring Glen.
