Dr. Wallace William Furman, age 82, of 503 W Main St, Valley View, died Monday, September 18th, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Hegins, on February 5, 1924, a son of the late Henry and Bertha (Oswald) Furman. He was a 1941 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He attended Lebanon Valley College and was a 1952 graduate of the Temple University School of Dentistry, Philadelphia. He was a Fighter Pilot in the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member and Past Master of F&AM Valley Lodge 797, a member of the Harrisburg Consistory, a former member of the Hegins Area Rotary, a member of American Legion Post 575 and VFW Post 8237 both of Valley View; a member of the P51 Pilots Association. He served on the Tri-Valley School Board for many years. He was a self employed dentist for 35 years. He was preceded in death by a twin brother Wilbur Furman and a brother Charles Furman He is survived by his wife Ferne S. (Schwalm) Furman to whom he was married for 59 years. Surviving In addition to his wife are a daughter Anne J wife of Devyn Usuka, Schuylkill Haven; a grandson Karl W Usuka, Schuylkill Haven; two brothers Alfred Furman, Leola and Forrest Furman, Potomac, Ill.; and a sister Mildred Ebert, Hegins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, with Rev. Philip Sabas officiating. Masonic services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church. A viewing was held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
