Click here to view the Video Tribute for Vilma Vilma Elda Mattern, age 87, of 1200 Erdman Road, Lykens Twp, passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 at Schuylkill Medical Center- S. Jackson, Pottsville. She was born on Friday, May 13, 1921 in Lykens Twp, a daughter of the late Clarence O. Deibert and the late Christie J (Miller) Deibert. She was a seamstress in area garment factories, had worked for the former Muskin Shoe Co, Millersburg, and had retired from the former Mandata Poultry. She was a member of Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Church, Erdman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Whalen M Mattern in 2001, by a half brother Leroy Deibert, an infant sister, and a daughter in law Gale R Mattern. She is survived by a son, Wayne C Mattern of Hegins; two daughters, Joann M Schweitzer and her husband William of Manheim and Dawn E Artz and her husband Tom of Hegins; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Memorial Services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Friday, January 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jan Mills officiating.
