Verna M. Kline Shadle, 93, formerly of Palo Alto and Pottsville, passed away Wednesday at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven. Born in Pottsville, October, 15, 1917, a daughter of the late Roy and Martha Schaeffer Kline. Verna was a member of the First Evangelical United Methodist Church, Pottsville, where she enjoyed being a sunday school teacher. She also helped cook and serve meals for various church events. She was also a member of the Palo Alto Republican Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clayton, Warren, Clair and Roy Kline all of Valley View. Surviving are her husband of 72 years, Mark Shadle; two daughters, Gloria Jean Shadle, Pottsville and Gail Spleen and her husband Frank, Palo Alto; Two grandsons, Brent Spleen, Pottsville and Brandon Spleen, Palo Alto; one sister, Ethel Chubb, Lykens; one brother, Charles Kline, Spring Glen. Nieces and Nephews. Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family from the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View with Rev. Philip Sabas.
