Vera E. Maurer, 62, of Lancaster, died Thursday, January 22, 2004 at her home. Born on May 6, 1941 in Hegins, PA, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Edna (Schwartz) Schlegel. An avid duplicate bridge player, she was the manager of the Red Rose Bridge Club for many years. She was a certified director and attained the rank of Silver Life Master. She also enjoyed doing counted-cross-stitch. She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel. Surviving are her husband of 42 years, Roger G. Maurer of Lancaster; three sons, Randall A. Maurer of Reston VA, John R. Maurer of Fredricksburg, VA, Bryan R. Maurer of Delmont, PA, and a daughter, Sharon L. Sarcinello of Downingtown, PA; two sisters, Doris Williams of Millersburg, PA, Brenda Williamson of Landisville, PA; four grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services were held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, Jan 27, 2004, at the Valley View Church of God with the Rev. Gerald Frey officiating. Viewing was held from 9-11 A.M. Interment was made in the church cemetary, Valley View. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home Inc., Valley View, is in charge of arrangments. Viewing will was held from 7-9 P.M. on Monday, Jan 26, 2004 at the Charles F. Snyder,Jr., Funeral Home, Lititz, PA.
