Terry Lee Ebert, age 67, of Valley View, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at ManorCare, Pottsville.
He was born on in Harrisburg, on February 16, 1948 , a son of the late Arthur L. and Marie A. Deibert Ebert.
He was a 1966 graduate of Tri-Valley High School and competed in wrestling.
Terry joined the US Navy February 9, 1967. He went to Boot Camp and graduated from Hospital Corpsman School in Great Lakes, IL. He worked on an orthopedic ward at the US Naval Hospital in Philadelphia. He also trained at the combat medic school at the 2nd Marine Division, NC. He served two and half years with the US Marine Corp., Fleet Marine Corp Force in Okinawa, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Philippines and Vietnam. He served aboard the USS Tripoli Aircraft Carrier and was discharged on December 1, 1970 achieving the rank Hospital Corpsman, 3rd Class Petty Officer. He received the National Defense Medal, US Navy Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Bronze Campaign Star.
He was employed at the former Skamper Corporation in Hegins prior to becoming disabled.
Terry competed in trap shooting matches in Schuylkill County. He was runner up to the State Champ in 1978 and also that year was the Schuylkill County Champion in the Fred Coleman Double Barrel Race.
Terry was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 103, the American Legion Post 575, and the VFW Post 8237 all of Valley View. He was also a member of the NRA, the Valley View Gun Club, Hegins Trap Club, The Erdman Sportsmen Association, Pike Township Sportsmen Association and the Pennsylvania Flyers Association.
Services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View on, Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Brian Beissel officiating.
A viewing wias held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday at the church .
Burial was made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.
