Susanna Jane Schwartz, age 73, of Hegins, died Monday, July 31st, 2006 at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. She was born in Lavelle, Pa. on March 13, 1933, a daughter of the late Harry L and Alice Roselda (Felker) Smith. She and her husband owned and operated Schwartz's Roadside Market before retiring. She was a member of the Fearnot Assembly of God. She is survived by her husband Richard D Schwartz, to whom she was married for 54 years. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son Richard W Schwartz, Tower City; two daughters Deborah K Artz, Valley View and Tracey L Geist, Hegins; three grandsons Shawn J Artz, Valley View, Jordan C Ross, Hegins and Braxton Z Schwartz, Tower City; a granddaughter Pamela B Sweigart, Ashland; a great grandson Kelton B Sweigart, Ashland; a great granddaughter Megan O. Boyer, Valley View; two brothers Harry L "Pete" Smith, Hegins and Frank L Smith, Lavelle; three sisters Jeanette E Young, Philadelphia, Lucille A Miller, Lingelstown, and Frieda R Johnson, Lavelle. She was preceded in death by a son Craig R Schwartz in 1967, by a sister Kay Marlow in 1967, and by a brother Jack C Smith in 2005. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 4th, with Rev. Richard Ritenour officiating. A viewing was held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Tri-Valley Home Care, 1715 W Maple Street, Valley View PA 17983.
