Russell F Fessler, age 91, of 610 Fairview Street, Pottsville, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Westin Senior Living Center, Orwigsburg. He was born on Thursday, July 13, 1922, in Auburn, a son of the late Jonathan and Eva Hand Fessler. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a truck driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking, Bethlehem prior to his retirement. Russell enjoyed trap shooting, fishing, and hunting. His wife Galdys E Hutton Fessler passed away in 2012. He was also preceded in death by a brother Clair Fessler and a sister Naomi Weist. He is survived by three sons Don Fessler of Douglasville, Richard Fessler of Las Vegas, NV, and James Fessler of Pottsville, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, January 6, 2014, at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Gerald Frey officiating. A viewing was held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. Burial was made in the Church of God Cemetery, Valley View.
