Russell L. Blyler Sr, 86, of Klingerstown passed away Friday, May 12, 2023 at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
He was born on November 28, 1936, in Klingerstown of the late J. Daniel and Dorothy Carl Blyler.
He attended the former Hubley High School, Spring Glen. Russell was a jack of all trades, whether it be Strip mining, farming, metal working, welding, anything needed to be fixed you called Russ. He was best known as the founder of Big B Manufacturing.
He was a member of the Salem Church of Rough and Ready, also a life member of the Klingerstown Fire Company, and a former member of the Mahontongo Fire Company, Pitman.
Married on 10/25/1958, he was preceded in death by his wife, C. Louise Blyler on 2/25/2007, just shy of celebrating 50 years of marriage.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Lu Ann Blyler, sisters Arlene Deibert and Jean Niederland, and great grandson Abraham Neiswender.
Russell was always engineering and designing metal works, he even built his own underground house. After his retirement, Russell and his wife Traveled to Alaska multiple times, and after his wife passed away he became an avid woodworker.
Russell is survived by two daughters, Linda and husband Terry Neiswender of Pitman; Ann and husband Scott Wasilus of Erdman; a son, Russell Jr. and wife Sherry, Dornsife; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, several in-laws, nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held from the Buffington Reed Funeral Home on Tuesday May 16 2023 from 5 to 7pm.
Private Burial will be made in Salem UCC Cemetery, Rough and Ready.
