Roger L Shomper, age 76, of 645 E Main Street, Hegins, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Schuylkill Medical Center- E Norwegian, Pottsville. He was born on Sunday, August 15, 1937, in Ashland, a son of the late Clayton and Ellen Ellinger Shomper. He was a 1955 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He served in the US Army. Roger had worked in his fathers plumbing business, then was employed at TRW, Harrisburg, and retired form Chromalloy, Harrisburg. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View. He was also a member of the Valley View Gun Club. He was instrumental in the development of the Pine Creek Trout Nursery. Roger enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Shomper. He is survived by his wife Irene P Schach Shomper, to whom he was married for 53 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Debbie J Parobek and her husband Joseph of Hegins; a son, Neil R Shomper and his wife Missy of Hegins; four grandsons, Cody Shomper, Nicholas Parobek, Andrew Parobek, and Justin Parobek; a granddaughter, Cassidy Shomper; and a niece and a nephew. Private graveside services with military honors were held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with Rev. Duane Bardo officiating.
