Robert R. Updegrave, Sr. 76, of W. Main Street, Valley View, passed away Tuesday morning at his home. Born in Valley View, a son of the late Homer and Minnie Wolfgang Updegrave. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard during the Korean War. Robert was a retired independent truck driver. He had owned a bicycle shop. His greatest joys were working on his trucks, building wooden trucks and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, John and Howard Updegrave; four sisters, Rosie Updegrave, Blanche Shaeffer, Grace Buffington and Margaret Shade. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Marlene E. Witmer Updegrave. His children, Robert R. Updegrave Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Pitman; Charlotte Spicher and her husband Robin, Hegins; Rodger Updegrave and his wife Wanda, Hegins; Doris Bixler and her husband Steve Sr., Valley View; Scott Updegrave and his wife Amy, Valley View; Robin Klinger and her husband Wayne, Mechanicsburg; Chris Updegrave and his wife Wendy, Sacramento and Ray Bougner and his wife Cindy, Texas. Twenty-five Grandchildren and twenty-two Great Grandchildren. Memorial services were held Saturday, April 25th at 11:00am from the Buffington Reed Funeral Home, Valley View with Rev. Gerald Frey offciating.There was a visitation from 10 am to 11 am. Burial with military honors was in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.
