Robert J "Bobby" Schneider, Sr, age 85, of Valley View, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Schuylkill Medical Center- S. Jackson, Pottsville.

He was born on Friday, June 26, 1931, in New Philadelphia, a son of the late Francis Schneider and the late Effie Drusjack Schneider.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War.

He was a mason for Russell Deitrich Construction, Valley View, prior to his retirement.

He was a member of Christ United Lutheran Church, Ashland.

He was a very active member of American Legion Post 575 Valley View, also a member of VFW Post 8237 Valley View, and a former member of the Valley View Fire Company.

Bobby enjoyed local sports, the Pittsburgh Steelers, doing word search puzzles, hunting, and fishing.

His wife Judith Ann Klinger Schneider passed away in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Edward Schneider.

He is survived by three sons, Robert J Schneider, Jr of Valley View, Larry L Schneider of Valley View, and Gary E Schneider of Sacramento; two daughters, Barbara J Brown of Greenville and Melanie A Schneider of Magnolia, DE; three grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Schneider and Francis Schneider both of Philadelphia; a sister, Margaret Yost of Pennsauken, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Dr. Kim Lengert officiating.

A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial with Military Honors was made in St. John's "Kimmel's" Cemetery, Ashland.
