Robert Wood Maris, age 77, of 2276 East Main Street, Sacramento, Pa., formerly of Philadelphia, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born on December 6, 1932, in the city of Philadelphia, into a Quaker family. His mother and father were Edith Robinson Maris and Albert Branson Maris. His residence from birth until 1954 was Lansdowne, Pa. From 1954 until 2002 he lived in the city of Philadelphia. In 2002 he moved to Sacramento, Pa. Robert was educated wholly in the Quaker affiliated schools, Lansdowne Friends School, Friends Select School, Westtown Friends Boarding School and Swarthmore College. After college he attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where in his third year, he was an officer of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. Thereafter he joined the law firm of former Philadelphia mayor Richardson Dilworth, where he spent his entire career until his retirement in 1990. He is survived by a brother William Maris of Marlton, NJ. Burial will be private in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento, Pa. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
