Richard Donald Schwartz, age 75, of the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Hegins, died Saturday, August 12th, 2006 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Hegins, on July 21, 1931, a son of the late William H and Goldie A (Kimmel) Schwartz. He and his wife owned and operated Schwartz's Roadside Market. He was a self employed farmer. He was also a utility plant operator at the former Ashland State Hospital before retiring. He was a member of the Fearnot Assembly of God. His wife Susanna J (Smith ) Schwartz died July 31, 2006. He is survived by a son Richard W Schwartz, Tower City; two daughters Deborah K Artz, Valley View and Tracey L Geist, Hegins; three grandsons Shawn J Artz, Valley View; Jordan C Ross, Hegins, and Braxton Z Schwartz, Tower City; a granddaughter Pamela B Sweigart, Ashland; a great grandson Kelten B Sweigart, Ashland; a great granddaughter Megan O Boyer, Valley View; five brothers Irvin Schwartz, Hegins, Chester Schwartz, Hegins, Theodore Schwartz, Hegins, Franklin Schwartz, Hegins, and David Schwartz, Long Island, NY; two sisters Gloria Kroh, Hegins, and Patricia Moyer, Millersburg. He was preceded in death by a son Craig R Schwartz in 1967; by two brothers Russell Schwartz and William Schwartz; and by two sisters Betty Readinger and Phyllis Coleman. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, Pa. at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 16, with Rev. Richard Ritenour officiating. A viewing was held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
