Richard E Hinkel, age 87, of 1223 Deep Creek Road, Barry Twp, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, May 8, 1926, in Barry Twp, a son of the late Edward and Edna Weikel Hinkel. He was a self employed farmer. He was a member of St. John's "Kimmel's" Church, Barry Twp. Richard enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and traveling. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Clair Hinkel; a brother George Hinkel; and by five sisters Catherine Snyder, Irene Roadarmel, Grace Riegel, Susie Gahres, and Ruth Buchspics. He is survived by his wife Darlene S Kehres Hinkel, to whom he was married for 64 years. He is also survived by three daughters Anita K Bixler and her husband Ronnie, Angela R Schalles and her husband Eric, and Beth A Huntsinger and her husband Bob all of Barry Twp; four grandsons Mike Bixler and his wife Lindsey, Jason Bixler, Scott Schalles, and Richard Huntsinger all of Barry Twp; two granddaughters Erica Schalles and Gina Huntsinger both of Barry Twp; a great grandson Brantley Bixler of Barry Twp; two sisters Esther Whary of Gowen City and Helen Klaiss of Lavelle; a brother Leroy Hinkel of Barry Twp; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. John's "Kimmel's" Church, Barry Twp, on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Bonnie Yeager officiating. A viewing was held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View and from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday at the church. Burial was made in St. John's "Kimmel's" Cemetery, Barry Twp. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St John's "Kimmel's" Church, 1263 Deep Creek Road, Ashland PA 17921.
