Raymond G. "Ray" Williams, age 86, formerly of Sacramento, Pa., entered eternal life at the Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg, on Sunday, July 19, 2015.
He was born in Pottsville on December 11, 1928, a son of the late Griffith and Sarah Moser Williams.
Ray graduated from Pottsville High School.
He worked for PPandL. He and his late wife owned and operated Ray and Violets Sports Shop in Sacramento for over 27 years. He than moved his family to a farmett in Hegins R.D., where he enjoyed fishing in his pond, his biggest pleasure was hunting game in the valley. He and Violet were also employed at Human Services, Elizabethville for several years.
They were active in St. Matthew's Church near their home and were active in all church activities, social dinners, furnishing and arranging flowers from their garden for all services.
He was preceded in death by his wife Violet Schadle Williams in 2006; two sons Gary and Glenn Williams; a daughter Holly Williams; and by two sisters Henrietta Tesno and Helen Bartholemew.
He is survived by a son Brian Williams and his wife Sharon of Reading; a daughter Sheila Reed of Elizabethville; grandchildren Scott Reed, Glenn Williams Jr, Jennifer Adair, Jimmy and Brianne Williams, Chelsea Coleman, and Sheena Erdman; sister in law Ellen Williard Johnston; brother in law Ray Schadle; several great grandcildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 10:30 am to 11 am, on Friday, July 24, 2015 at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View.
Funeral services were held at 11 am on Friday at the funeral home with Rev Curtis Zemencik officiating.
Burial was made in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento.
