Pauline M. (Smeltz) Dunkelberger, age 80, of Hegins, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Providence Place, Pottsville.

She was born on May 31, 1946, in Lykens Township, a daughter of the late Adam Smeltz and the late Lottie (Kissinger) Smeltz.

Pauline was a 1964 graduate of Upper Dauphin High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Millersville State College in 1968. She later received her master's degree from Bloomsburg State College. Pauline devoted 37 years to the Upper Dauphin Area School District, where she was a dedicated fourth-grade teacher who touched the lives of generations of students with her kindness, patience, and commitment to education. Pauline was a member of Christ United Church of Christ in Fountain. In her spare time Pauline enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Clair R "Richie" (Carolyn) Dunkelberger, III and Adam D (Rebecca) Dunkelberger both of Hegins; and three grandchildren, Ellie C Dunkelberger, Noah J Dunkelberger, and Madison A Dunkelberger.

Pauline is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Clair R Dunkelberger, Jr on November 30, 2026 and two sisters, Priscilla Heckler and Arlene Reitz.

Private graveside services will be held at Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
