Obituary

Paul Edward "Red" Rudy, Sr., age 67, of 213 W Market St, Gratz, PA passed away peacefully Thursday, May 5th, 2005, surrounded by his children and loved ones at Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, PA . He was born in Harrisburg, PA on September 11, 1937, a son of the late Rev. Edward Thomas and Ida Mae (Bordner) Rudy. He was an Army Veteran. He was an expert with the sub machine gun and the M1 Carbine during his service. He was also a member of the 28th Division of the Military Police of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was currently employed as a driver for King Logging and Sawmill. He had previously worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Reed's Fine Furniture, Gratz, was a Pa State Fire Warden, a professional auto dealer, and a tool and dye maker. When he was younger he raced motorcycles, owned his own photography business, and managed the West Shore Model Raceway in Lemoyne. He attended Trinity Wesleyan Church, Sunbury, Pa. He was a member of the Pa Chief of Police Assoc., Pa Firemans Assoc., member and former VP of the RC Radio Racing Club, Klingerstown, member Valley Lanes Bowling Team, and a member of the Short Mountain Gun Club. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, building and racing radio controled cars and airplanes, playing guitar, photography, watching professional wrestling, and going to auctions. He is survived by a companion Jean Brosius, Northumberland, Pa.; by five sons Paul E Rudy, Jr., RR Dalmatia, Pa, Robert J Rudy, Etters, Pa, Edward T Rudy, II, New Cumberland, Pa., Eric S Rudy, Altoona, Pa, and Ronald E Bell, Harrisburg, Pa; two daughters Donna J Rudy, Carlisle, Pa and Judi Ruby, Carlisle, Pa; four step sons Mark A Daniels, Myrtle Beach, SC, Gregory A Daniels, Williamstown, Pa, John D Small, Myrtle Beach, SC, Howard A.D. Small, Wiesbadem, Germany; 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; Uncle and Aunt Lester and Diane Bordner, R.D.Lykens, Pa; Uncle and Aunt Dean and Pauline Bordner, Millersburg, Pa; and by several counsins. He was preceded in death by a step son Allen Daniels in 2001. Memorial Services were held at at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, Pa. at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, May 9th with Rev. James H. Powell, Jr, officiating. Burial will be made at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Harrisburg, Pa. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com
