Obituary

Palmer Stanley Merwine, age 83, of 947 Deep Creek Rd, Mabel, died Friday Jan 30, 2004, at his home. He was born on Oct 26, 1920, in Weishample, Pa, a son of the late Earl and Ida (Yoder) Merwine. He served for four years as a Sgt. in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of St. John's "Kimmel's" United Chruch of Christ, R.D. Ashland, Pa. He was a retired foreman from the Kocher Coal Company, Valley View, Pa. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Nellie Mildred (Skuches) Merwine; a son George Merwine, of Williamstown; two daughters Jean wife of Jim Neumeister of R.D. Hegins, and Adele Shepard of Blue Mt., Pa; a brother Lewis Merwine of R.D. Ashland; a sister Fern Troup, of R.D. Ashland; six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers Allen, Arthur, and Walter Merwine. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at St. John's "Kimmel's" United Church of Christ, R.D. Ashland, with the Rev. Harry Clark officiating. A viewing was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb, 1, 2004, at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, 200 W Main St, Valley View, Pa. and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb, 2, 2004, at St. John's "Kimmel's" United Church of Christ, R.D. Ashland, Pa. Burial was made in St. John's Cemetery, R.D. Ashland, Pa. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, 1263 Deep Creek Rd., Ashland PA 17921.
