Obituary

Norman Woodward Kembel, age 93, of 621 E Main St., Hegins, Pa, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born May 17, 1910 in Pillow,Pa a son of the late Joseph and Cora (Hummel) Kembel. He retired as a coal miner from William Carl Mining, Hegins, Pa. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, Pa. Surviving are a daughter Grace M Wedde and s son in law Boyd Wedde of Hegins; two sisters Ethel Wiest of Gratz and Cathryn Thomas of Tremont; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers Edward, Lee, Earl, and Ralph Kembel and by two sisters Carolyn Wiest and Mae Gise. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb 12, 2004 at Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, with the Rev. Claude Schach officiating. A viewing was held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins, Pa. Memorial contributions can be made to Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins PA 17938. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, 200 W Main St, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
