Mildred Maria Shoemaker, age 91, of Johnson City, NY, formerly of Lykens, Pa. and Valley View, Pa., died Thursday, October 28th, 2004 at James C Johnston Memorial Nursing Home, Johnson City, NY. Mrs. Shoemaker was born in Valley View, Pa on October 29, 1912, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Jennie (Klinger) Harner. She was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp. High School, Hegins, Pa. She was a self employed seamstress and also worked in area garment factories . She also was a ticket seller in the former Budd Theater, Lykens, Pa. Her husband Robert W Shoemaker died in 1977. She is survived a son Ronald W husband of Donna Shoemaker, Binghamton, NY; three sisters Hannah Harner, Valley View, Pa, Ruby wife of Earl Tobias, Millersburg, Pa, and Gladys wife of Joseph Sertic, Prescott, Ariz.; a grandson Robert W husband of Jennifer Shoemaker, Bloomingdale, NJ; a granddaughter Denise A Shoemaker, Binghamton, NY; two great grandsons, Brendan W Shoemaker, Bloomingdale, NJ and Evan R Shoemaker, Bloomingdale, NJ; and one great granddaughter Marisa A McCants, Binghamton, NY. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters Beulah Goodman, Vesta Zechman, and Hilda Menard; by two brothers Stanley and Warren Harner. Funeral services were held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, PA. at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 3rd, with Rev. George Reynolds officiating assisted by Rev. Donald Zechman. A viewing was held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 527 N 2nd St., Lykens, Pa and on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, Pa. Burial was made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View, Pa. Family request donations to the United Methodist Church, 527 N 2nd Street, Lykens PA 17048.
