Obituary
Michael L. "Butch" Protivnak, age 77, of, Hegins, passed away November 7, 2015 at Schuylkill Medical Center- South, Pottsville.
He was born on December 15, 1937 in Brockton, a son of the late Joseph Protivnak and Emma (Barzatti) Protivnak.
He was a high school graduate and retired from the Untied States Air Force after 20 years of service. Upon his retirement he worked at Showers Coal Mine as a hoister
He was a member of the American Legion Post 575 and the VFW Post 8237 both of Valley View.
Butch was an avid hunter, and enjoyed fishing and camping.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Protivnak, Jr., and a daughter, Deborah Maurer.
He is survived by his wife of 3 years and companion of 32 years Nancy (Neidlinger) Protivnak.
He is also survived by children, David Protivnak, Michelle Brosius, Michael Winn and Jesse Winn and their families, several grandchildren; brother, Joseph Protivnak, sister, Theresa Fabrizio; a niece and nephews.
Services where held on Friday, November 13, 2015, at 11 AM at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating.
A viewing was held Friday morning from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
Burial with Military Honors was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Post 575,1024 W Main St, Valley View, PA 17983.
