Click here to view the Video Tribute for Maynard Maynard M. Huntzinger, age 82, of 733 E Main Street, Hegins, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at his home. He was born on Tuesday, May 8, 1928, in Hegins a son of the late Charles M Huntzinger and Alma A (Smeltz) Huntzinger. He was a 1946 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School; where he was a member of the baseball team. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was a house painter for Wayne Shadle Painting and Bobbie Spicher Painting and a bartender at the former Huntzinger's Hotel, Valley View. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church; where he served as sexton for many years; a choir member; and church council member. He was also a member of the NRA. Maynard loved hunting, fishing, trapping, and the outdoors. He enjoyed following local sports teams. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur L Huntzinger. He is survived by two brothers Elwood E. Huntzinger and his wife Marion of Bryn Mawr, Charles M. Huntzinger and his wife Judith of Hegins; two sisters Joan M. Koppenhaver and her husband Andrew of Winchester, VA and Deanna J. Dietz and her husband Ronald of Hegins. Services were held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, on Monday, September 20, 2010, at 11:00 AM, with Rev.Warren Egebo officiating. A visitation was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday at the church. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 375, Hegins, PA 17938. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.
