Maynard H Dunkelberger, age 74, of 205 S Goodspring Road, Hegins, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the Schuylkill Medical Center- E Norwegian, Pottsville. He was born on Wednesday, September 16, 1936, in Hegins, a son of the late Herman F Dunkelberger and Jennie M (Miller) Dunkelberger. He was a 1954 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He served in the US Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. He had worked for 33 years in Civil Service for the US Postal Service and the Department of Defense. He retired in 1988 from Ft. Indiantown Gap Military Base. He was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins; where he served as an usher and a member of the Altar Guild. He was also a member of the Hegins Fire Company. Maynard enjoyed music, reading, riding motorcycle, and entertainment at Hershey Park. He was preceded in death by a sister Marilyn King. He is survived by his wife Darlene R (Morgan) Dunkelberger, to whom he was married for 55 years. He is also survived by a son Gary M Dunkelberger and his wife Ann of Elizabethville; two daughters Carol J Waldron and her husband Carlton of Dillsburg, and Kathleen G Romberger and her husband William of Pitman; two granddaughters Darla J Romberger and Kayla M Romberger both of Pitman; two sisters Pearl Sabatino of Hegins and Gloria Spotts of Plano, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
