Mary Rebecca Deiter, age 81, of 1010 W Main Street, Valley View, Pa. died Saturday, April 30. 2005. at the Sunbury Community Hospital, Sunbury,Pa. She was born in Hegins Twp, Pa. on March 25, 1924, a daughter of the late Elwood E. and Lizzie A. (Schlegel) Rickert. She was a 1943 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. She retired as a seamstress having worked in area garment factories . She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View where she served as Coordinator of the Wernersville State Hospital Ministry, Sunday School Teacher for many years, and a kitchen volunteer. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Ashland Chapter 154. She served as Judge of Elections for Hegins Twp. for many years. She coordinated the government food surplus program for Hegins Twp. and was active in the American Legion Post 575 Auxillary, Valley View.. She was the widow of Robert Deiter. She is survived by a brother Robert W. Rickert, Lemoyne, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers Irvin, Marlin, Myles, Thomas, and James Rickert and William Williard; by five sisters Verna Baum, Maude Herb, Marie Schnell, Lena Reed, and Dorothy Kirk. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, PA. at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, May 4th, with Rev. Carl Shankweiler officiating. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. There will be no viewing. Burial was made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.
