Martha L Riegel, age 94, of 5429 Rt 25, Gratz, formerly of Valley View, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at her residence. She was born on Thursday, September 6, 1917, in Herndon, a daughter of the late Henry C Klinger and Clara Phillips Klinger. She was a graduate of the former Herndon High School and Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove. She taught at the former Leck Kill School, the former Hubley Twp High School, the former Gratz School, Millersburg High School, and substituted in the West Chester School District until her retirement. Martha also gave private music lessons in Valley View until her mid 80's. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, West Chester; and a former member of Zion Church, Herndon. Her husband Samuel A Riegel passed away in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son Terry D Riegel and three brothers Woodrow Klinger, Kenneth Klinger, and Herbert Klinger. She is survived by two sons Larry L Riegel of Loganville, Georgia and Ted L Riegel and his wife Kathleen of Gratz; four grandchildren; five great granddaughters; and a sister Corine Smith of Geneseo, NY. Funeral services were held at Zion Church, Herndon, on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Fred Faust officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the church.
