Click here to view the Video Tribute for Martha Martha Francis Herb, age 84, of 231 E Main Street, Hegins, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born on Monday, May 21, 1928, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Lena Morgan Shade. She worked at the former Muskin Shoe Company, Millersburg, prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View. Martha enjoyed shopping, baking, camping, and loved the beach. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia A Erdman; and five brothers Alvin Shade, Jim Shade, Mark Shade, William Shade, and Gary Shade. She is survived by her husband John L Herb, to whom she was married for 68 years. She is also survived by a son Jack L Herb and his wife Jean of Hegins; three grandsons Troy Erdman of Enola, Brad Erdman of Palmyra, and Jeremy Erdman of Valley View; three granddaughters Nicole Poletti of Valley View, Julie Rizzardi of Conshohocken, and Amanda Horoschak of Hegins; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters Marie Beard of Selinsgrove and Phyllis Simititus of West West Terrace; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 10:00 am, with Rev Duane Bardo officiating. Visitation was held from 9:30 am to 10:00 am on Saturday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. There will be no viewing. Burial was made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.
