Click here to view the Video Tribute for Marlin Marlin L Klinger, age 90, of 2651 W Main Street, Spring Glen, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Monday, January 24, 1921, in Klingerstown a son of the late Daniel Klinger and Vinnie Klinger. Marlin worked in the coal industry for Legal Coal Company, Kocher Coal Company, and retired from Mercury Coal Comapny in 1987. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman; where he served as a council member, delegate to the Lower Susquehanna Synod, property management committee, and a member of the cemetery association for many years. He was a charter member of F & AM Valley Lodge 797, Valley View. He received his 50 year pin in June of 2010 from the Valley Lodge. He was also a 50 year member of the Harrisburg Consistory and a former member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Millersburg Forest #125. He was a member of the Sacramento Fire Company and the Woodmen of the World, Pitman. Marlin enjoyed walking his two to three miles every day as long as he was able. He also enjoyed gardening, traveling, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by a son, Marlin L Klinger, Jr; a granddaughter, Kathryn E Hepler; five half brothers and a half sister. He is survived by his wife Arabel (Straub) Klinger, to whom he was married for 68 years. He is also survived by two sons Dennis E Klinger and his wife Charlotte of Millersburg, and Tim S Klinger and his wife Nadine of Spring Glen; two daughters Carole Hepler of Spring Glen, and Cindy Wedde and her husband Gary of Elysburg; eight grandsons Matthew Klinger of Oneonta, AL, Doug Klinger and his wife Cherie of Dallas, PA, Chris Hepler and his wife Wanda of Kernersville, NC, James Hepler of Durham, NC, Brandon Wedde and his wife Melinda of Pittsburgh, Brandon Klinger and his wife Kelly of Mountain Top, Gaven Klinger of Spring Glen, Colby Klinger of Spring Glen; two granddaughters Tracy Gervasio and her husband Pete of Harrisburg, Amber Mallonee and her husband Dave of Philadelphia; eight great grandchildren; a half brother; and four half sisters. Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Church, Erdman, on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jan Mills officiating. A viewing was held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View; with Masonic Services at 7 p.m. A viewing was also held at Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial was made in Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Cemetery, Erdman.
