Click here to view the Video Tribute for Mark Mark I Zerbe, age 79, of 711 W Main Street, Valley View, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Schuylkill Medical Center- S. Jackson, Pottsville. He was born on Wednesday, June 3, 1931, in Valley View, a son of the late Phillip Zerbe and Lillie (Bensinger) Zerbe. He was a 1949 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He served in the US Air Force from April 1951 to March 1955 in the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, National Defense Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He had been employed as a truck driver for 25 years for the former Valley View Enterprises and had been employed for 15 years and retired as plant operator for the Rauch Creek Treatment Plant, Valley View. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins. Mark was also a member of American Legion Post 575, Valley View, retired Public Employees of PA Chapter 13, a life member of the Gratz VFW, a life member of the Valley View Fire Company, the Gratz Fire Company, and the Silver Stragglers Golfers. Mark served as chairman of the Hegins Twp Supervisors from 1997-2003. He enjoyed to play euchre and golf. He was preceded in death by two sisters June Hornbeck and Nellie Lull, and a brother Dean Zerbe. He is survived by his wife Dolores L (Stutzman) Zerbe, to whom he was married for 53 years. He is also survived by a daughter Lee Ann Patteson and her husband Eric of Harrisburg; a son Rodney M Zerbe and his companion Sukie Park of Brooklyn, NY; a brother Phillip Zerbe of Valley View; a sister Anna Zerbe of Valley View; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Claude Schach officiating. Visitation was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. Memorial contributions can be made to Friedens United Church of Christ, P.O.
