Obituary

Mark William Huntzinger, age 92, of Schoolyard Square, Pine Grove, formerly of Good Spring, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Schuylkill Medical Center- E Norwegian, Pottsville. He was born on Sunday, December 15, 1918, in Hegins, a son of the late William Henry and Ida (Gehres) Huntzinger. He was a graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II; serving in the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Mark was most proud of his military service. He retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot in 1983. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins. He was also a member of VFW Post 8237 of Valley View. He was preceded in death by his wife Carrie M (Young) Huntzinger in 1995 and by four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by a son Dale R Huntzinger of Halifax; two daughters Judy M Scheib of Lancaster and Jayne M Fitzpatrick and her husband Paul of Palmyra; two granddaughters Marne R Hill of Lancaster and Kayle R Schmick of Conshohocken; and a sister Anna Lindsey of Alexandria, VA. Services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 11 AM., with Rev. William Danis officiating. A viewing was held from 10 to 11 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors were made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
