Obituary

Marilyn Joan Kembel, age 96 of Hegins, Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at Heritage Mill, Tower City.

She was born on December 22, 1929, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Rufus Miller and Martha (Wetzel) Miller.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She worked as a seamstress for many years. She was also a wonderful baker, known especially for her delicious raisin pies and caramel custards, which were always in high demand and often preordered for the church bake sales. Her baking was a special talent that brought joy to many. She had a special love for her “pup,” Misty, who was always close to her heart. We can only imagine that one of her first stops was at the Rainbow Bridge, where she was joyfully reunited with her faithful companion, Misty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Kembel (1998); her brother-in-law, Mike Ravenkamp; and her nephew, Sean Ravenkamp; grandchild-in-law, David R. Schmick.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Krause; her grandchildren: Stacey Schmick, Matthew Krause and his wife, Susan Krause and Shelley High and her husband, Joel; her great-grandchildren: Robert E. Michael Jr., David L. Schmick and his wife, Brandi Schmick, her great great-grandchildren: Shianne Lontz, Analaya Loncar, Baylee Schmick, Ella Schmick, Saylor Schmick, Harper Schmick, Cady Krause, Finnegan High and Darby High; her sister, Ann Ravenkamp; and her niece, Amber Day and her husband, Brandt Day.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made in Marilyn's name to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA 18 Wertz Dr, Pine Grove, PA 17963 or St. John's Church.

Graveside services will be held at St. John's Cemetery, Hegins, on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating.

Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hegins, Pennsylvania.
