Marguerite Elizabeth Koons, age 72, of 32 Koons Road, Hegins, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the Milton S Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. She was born on Wednesday, January 29, 1936 in Tremont, a daughter of the late Clifford Smith and the late Florence (Scheibley) Smith. She was a 1955 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School . She retired as a seamstress for the former Philmark Mfg, Gratz. She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain. She was preceded in death by a brother James Smith. She is survived by her husband, Clair V. Koons, to whom she was married for 47 years. She is also survived by a son, Irvin S Koons and his wife, Mary of Hegins; a granddaughter, Mary Grose of Hegins; two grandsons, Jacob Koons of Hegins and Zane Koons of Halifax; a great-grandson, Synary Grose; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Koppenhaver; and a sister Nancy Klinger of Berrysburg. Services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Claude Schach officiating. A viewing was held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial was made in Fountain Community Cemetery. Condolences can be left for the family at www.buffingtonreed.com .
