Mae L Maurer, age 99, of 972 E Mountain Road, Hegins, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Saturday, November 2, 1912, in Hegins Twp, a daughter of the late Robert A Hauck and Katie P Coleman Hauck. She was a 1929 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. She was a seamstress for area garment factories and had also worked for the former L&L Pheasantry, Fountain, prior to her retirement. She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins. Mae enjoyed going out to eat and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer E Maurer in 1985. She was also preceded in death by a son Clyde L Maurer; a granddaughter Tina Krammes; a great grandson, Kole Harris, and twelve siblings. She is survived by son a Robert P Maurer and his wife Mary of Riverside, CA; a daughter Marilyn M Kehler and her husband Junior of Valley View; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins, on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday at the church. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Friedens Lutheran Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 375, Hegins, PA 17938.
