Obituary

Lorraine (Deitrich) Oldham, age 70, of 1423 W Main Street, Valley View, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

She was born on Friday, May 3, 1946, in Valley View, a daughter of the late Harry and Laura (Troutman) Deitrich.

She graduated from Tri-Valley High School in 1964 and received degrees from West Chester University and Clarion College.

She worked as a teacher first at North Schuylkill School District and the balance of her career was at the Upper Dauphin School District. During her career she taught primarily English and German and had also taught Russian. Upon retiring from teaching she was employed as the librarian at the Tri-Valley Public Library and retired at the end of 2015.

She was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain and was involved with the choir.

She was also a member of the Rotary, TOPS, the Red Hat Society and was active with the Friends of the Tri-Valley Library.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Oldham who passed away in 2005 and a brother David Deitrich.

She is also survived by three step-daughters, C. Noelle Petrasic and her husband Craig of Campbelltown , Laura Michelle Hercher and her husband Joshua of Harrisburg, Ilene Danielle Swartz and her husband Doug, Jr. of Enola. Four grandchildren Sydney and Laura Petrasic and Konrad and Jocelyn Hercher; a sister-in-law Hilda Deitrich; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

Services were held on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Christ United Church of Christ with Rev. Michael Klahr officiating.

A viewing was held Friday, September 30, 2016 from 7 to 9 PM at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., Valley View. Viewing will also be held on Saturday October 1, 2016 from 10-11 AM at the Christ United Church of Christ, Fountain.

Burial was made in St. Andrews Cemetery, Valley View.
