Leon Hiester Eshelman , age 77, of 836 Chestnut St, Hegins, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013 at his home. He was born on Wednesday, November 27, 1935, in Hegins, PA, a son of the late W. Eugene and Tillie (Geist) Eshelman. He graduated from Hegins Township High School, and Penn State University with a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Economics. He served in the US Army as the Head of the Commissary at Fort Drum in New York. He was a retired business owner having operated Twin Valley Farmers Exchange for 54 years. He was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins. He was also a member of Friedens Fellowship Choir and served on various committees. His favorite hobby was organizing Community Day to support Re-Creation's service with hospitalized veterans. He is survived by his wife Valeria (Gable) Eshelman, to whom he was married for 54 years. He is also survived by two daughters Jennifer Eshelman Shaffer and her husband Lee of Denver and Pamela Eshelman Schwalm and her husband Scott of Hegins; two sons Glen Eshelman and his wife Dr. Heather Thieme of York,and Gary Eshelman and his wife Michelle of Hegins; nine grandchildren; a sister Lois Graham and her husband Kenneth of Hegins. Private Burial was made in Fountain Community Cemetery. Memorial services were held at 2pm on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, with Rev.
