Click here to view the Video Tribute for Len Lawton Leonard Conrad, age 81, of 633 Broad Street, Valley View, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Schuylkill Medical Center- E Norwegian, Pottsville. He was born on Wednesday, March 26, 1930, in Hegins Twp, a son of the lateWilliam and Mary (Dunkelberger) Conrad. He was a 1948 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the USS Midway and the USS Tarawa. He retired as a machinist from the former Hegins Precision Division of Penn Reel. Len was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, a former member and director of the Hegins Area Ambulance, and a former member of the Valley View Fire Company. Len enjoyed cooking, family events, and loved to fish. He was preceded in death by a daughter Patrice E Peterson. He is survived by his wife Geraldine "Gerry" E (Koppenhaver) Conrad, to whom he was married for 60 years. He is also survived by a son William A "Bill" Conrad and his wife Debra of Valley View; two granddaughters Jennifer A Moore of Klingerstown and Caitlin M Conrad of Valley View; a great granddaughter Emma E Moore of Klingerstown; a great grandson Easton P Moore of Klingerstown; and a half brother Gerard Conrad of Valley View. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at 3:00 pm, with Rev. Brian Beissel officiating. A viewing was held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday at the church. Private burial was made at the convenience of the family in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to the Hegins Area Ambulance Association, P.O. Box 678, Valley View, PA 17983.
