Larry Madenford Sr., age 65, of Joliett, passed away early Friday morning, March 30, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - E Norwegian, Pottsville.

He was born on Sunday, June 29, 1952, in Lykens, PA, a son of the late George and Grace Lucas Madenford.

Larry was a member of the former Porter Tower High School Class of 1971 .

He was a Coal Mine Owner/Operator for several area mines, operating the East Franklin, New Lincoln, and HandM mines with his family. Larry had many close encounters throughout his life as a coal miner, and was most fortunate to be a survivor of the Porter Tunnel coal mine accident in 1977.

He was a former member of the Joliett Fire Company. Larry loved the Phillies. He enjoyed picking huckleberries and was always baking and cooking.

In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Madenford, Jr. in 2010, grandchild, Holly Madenford, and a sister, Karen Bush.

He is survived by his wife Lucinda Bixler Madenford, to whom he would have celebrated 45 years of marriage on March 31st.

Larry is also survived by d aaughter, Candace Madenford; a son, Shane R. Madenford, and his fiance Jessica Whitman; four grandchildren, Katie Madenford and fiance Jamie Reightler, Joliett; Adam Bloch, Valley View; Dylan Madenford, FL; Misty Madenford, Pine Grove; great-grandchild, Cheslea Sherman; sister, Connie Walters of Joliett.

Services will be private.
