Kenneth J Hoffman, age 96, of 1071 Ridge Road, Klingerstown, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 at the Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman.
He was born on Monday, May 13, 1918, in Ashland, a son of the late Guy Allen Hoffman and the late Ferrie Hollie Wehry Hoffman.
He was a 1935 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School; where he was very active in the band and school plays. He was also a graduate of Williamsport Technical School.
He was inducted into the US Army and served in A Company, 14th Regiment, 71st Division in the Third Army under General Patton during World War II. He participated in liberating concentration camps. He served in France, Germany, and Austria.
Kenny was a computer technician and constructed radar sites throughout the United States for the former Burroughs Corp, Philadelphia; after leaving Burroughs Corp he was a farmer and a custodian and school bus driver for the Tri-Valley School District.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Klingerstown.
He was also a member of VFW Post 2385 Valley View.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his first wife Dorthea Mary Hoffman; his second wife Rena F Miller Haas Hoffman; and a brother Bobby Hoffman.
He is survived by two step daughters, Phyllis M Klouser of Valley View and Joanne F Snyder and her husband Larry of Pitman; a step son William A Haas and his wife Susan of Elysburg; five step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; twelve nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews; two sister in laws Kay Maurer and her husband Bob of Virginia, and Phyllis Bloch of Valley View.
Services were held at Salem United Church of Christ, Klingerstown, on Friday, February 13, 2015, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating.
Visitation was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday at the church.
Burial was made in Salem Cemetery, Klingerstown.
