Click here to view the Video Tribute for Karen Karen Ruth Deeter, age 36, of 368 Valley Road Hegins. passed away Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007 at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia. She was born in Lansdale, Pa on April 5, 1971, a daughter of Sandra Lee (VanHorn) Cooney who survives her of Ashland and the late James Joseph Cooney. She was a 1989 graduate of North Schuylkill High School and she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Special Education from Millersville University. She was employed as a Special Education Teacher for IU 29 at Williams Valley High School until becoming ill. She was a member of Pennsylvania State Education Association. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Ashland. Surviving in addition to her mother are her husband Kent D Deeter; a daughter Olivia G Harner of Hegins; two step daughters Deanna M Deeter and Kylene S Deeter both of Hegins; a sister Kathy Cooney of Ashland; and two brothers James J Cooney and Patrick J Cooney both of Ashland. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, at 11a.m. on Saturday, May 26th, with Rev. Dana Heckman-Beil officiating. A viewing was held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was made in a family cemetery in Hegins Twp.
