Joyce R Buffington, age 84, of 204 Post Road, Valley View, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born on Tuesday, January 28, 1930, in Pitman a daughter of the late Stuart P and Irene M Harring Knerr. She was a 1947 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. She was employed by the Citizen-Standard Newspaper, Klinger and Stehr, Inc,, the former Buffington Funeral Home, and the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home. She was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins; where she was a member of the church choir and a former Sunday School teacher and superintendent for many years, and church secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald S Knerr. She is survived by her husband A. Donald Buffington, to whom she was married for 67 years. She is also survived by two sons, Scott D Buffington and his wife Gail of Schuylkill Haven, and Blake R Buffington and his wife Mary of Orwigsburg; a grandson, Michael Buffington of Northampton; three granddaughters, Amy Buffington of Wyomissing, Jodi Buffington-Reardon of Sinking Spring, and Julie Banks of Monroeville; a great grandson, Luke Buffington; a great granddaughter, Avery Reardon; a sister Lorraine D Hepler of Pitman; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at Friedens United Church of Christ, Hegins, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Michael C Klahr officiating. Visitation was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the church. There will be no viewing. Burial was made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
