Joseph Patrick Lucas, 57, of 2014 W Center Street Good Spring passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 19th, 2007 at the Hershey Medical Center. He was born in Ashland, on May 6, 1950, the son of the late William P and Verna S (Carl) Lucas. He was employed by Headwaters, Gilberton. He was formerly employed as a coal miner. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, Tremont. He is survived by his wife Judy A. (Harner) Lucas to whom he was married for 37 years. He is also survived by a son Joseph P Lucas, Jr and his wife Rhiannon of Valley View; by two daughters Amy J Deibler and her husband Hans of Donaldson, and Susan M Smeltz and her husband Troy of Hegins; by nine grandchildren Hans, Emily, Miranda, Arthur, Donald, and John Deibler of Donaldson; Brittany and Cole Smeltz of Hegins; and Brandon Hoffman of Orwigsburg; by five brothers Lewis, Robert, and John all of Joliett; Henry of Hegins, and Jerry of Pine Grove; by eleven sisters Marion Deeter, Shirley Deeter, and Betty Wolfgang all of Hegins, Grace Madenford, Jean Kroh, Pauline Carter, Carol Nelson, Janet Maidenford, and Cindy Schnoke all of Joliett; Linda Morgan of Valley View; and Barbara Bassininski of Llewellyn. He was preceded in death by two brothers Harold and William, Jr; and by two sisters Anna Mae Lucas and Verna Lucas. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23rd, with Elder Kevin Young officiating.
