Click here to view the Video Tribute for Joe Joseph Frank Butcavage, age 74, of 305 W Maple Street, Valley View, died Thursday, November 2nd, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Branch Twp, Schuylkill County, Pa. on March 25, 1932, a son of the late Stanley and Victoria (Sobolesky) Butcavage. He was a 1950 graduate of the former Branch Twp High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a construction worker and a truck driver for the Steel Workers of America, Pittsburgh. He retired from the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation where he was a truck driver and reservation maintenance employee. He was a member of American Legion Post 575 Valley View. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife Shirley J (Fegley) Butcavage, to whom he was married for 26 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters Kitty M wife of Robert Sowers, Pine Grove Denise M Covas, West West Terrace, and Kay Ann Boyer companion of Al Zimmerman, Pine Grove; four sons Kerry A husband of Mary Jane Spittler, Pine Grove, Kenneth L husband of Judy Spittler, Pine Grove, Kim T husband of Tina Spittler, Pine Grove, and Joseph M husband of Linda Butcavage, Minersville; fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother Stanley J Butcavage, Jr, Pennington, NJ; and a sister Eleanor Brown, Reading. He was preceded in death by a son Thomas S Spittler and a grandson Troy E Spittler. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8th, with Rev. John Hassler officiating. A viewing was held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial was made in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
