John E. Harman, age 68, of 625 Gap Street, Hegins, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at his home. He was born on Wednesday, April 23, 1941 in Muir, a son of the late Clair E Harman and the late Carrie E (Morgan) Harman. He was a self employed coal miner. John enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church,Valley View. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Harman. He is survived by his wife, Joan I. Harman, to whom he was married for 51 years. He is also survived by four daughters, Christine J Bomgardner and her husband, Thomas of Annville, Cathy M Carpenter of Valley View, Julie R Harring and her husband, Rodd of Pitman, and Cara L Clark and her husband, Jonathan of Hegins; a son, Jeffrey J Harman and his wife, Beth of Hegins; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers, Larry Harman of Pottsville and James Harman of Sacramento; a sister, Carol Hovenstine of Valley View; and several nieces and nephews. Private services were held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with Rev. Philip Sabas officiating. Burial was made in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.
