Click here to view the Video Tribute for Jean Jean Mae Schwartz, age 86, of 977 East Mountain Road, Hegins, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010 at her residence. She was born on Thursday, January 3, 1924, in Donaldson, a daughter of the late Earl S Ney and Minnie E (Athey) Ney. She was a 1941 graduate of the former Frailey Twp. High School. She had been employed as a housekeeper for Dr. Donald Malick, Hegins, until her retirement. Jean was also a former Avon representative. She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins. She was also a former member of the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens, Hegins Fire Co Auxiliary, and the Valley View VFW Auxiliary. Jean had a big heart, especially for her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, making jewelry pictures, crafts, and bird watching. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen L Schwartz in 2002; an infant son Gary Schwartz; a great grandson Michael A Leiter II; two brothers Tom and Donald Ney; by two sisters Marge Schwalm and Mary Bressler; and two nieces. She is survived by two sons Allen P Schwartz and his wife Kathryn of Buck Run and Terry L Schwartz and his wife Melody of Hegins; four grandsons Michael A Schwartz and his wife Deborah of Doylestown, Jonathan R Schwartz and his wife Susan of Front Royal, VA, Christopher L Schwartz of Minersville, and Jamie R Schwartz and his wife Michelle of Hegins; a granddaughter Christy L Leiter and her husband Mike of Tower City; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother Robert Ney of Donaldson; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Thursday, November 4, 2010, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be made at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
