Janet P Lucas, age 78, of 362 Deep Creek Road, Hegins, passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Schuylkill Medical Center- E Norwegian, Pottsville. She was born on Wednesday, December 30, 1931, in Hegins Twp, a daughter of the late Henry Wedde and Dorothy B (Eckler) Wedde. She was a 1949 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School. She had been employed as a trimmer in area garment factories and had worked on the family farm. She was a member of St. John's "Kimmel's" Church, Ashland. Janet enjoyed making greeting cards, going to camp, family gatherings, and playing cards with her friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert G Wedde and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband Edward C Lucas, to whom she was married for 60 years. She is also survived by two daughters Lois A Hinkel and her husband David of Ashland, and Barbara D Hinkel and her husband Gary of Ashland; four granddaughters Melissa R Clemmer of Pitman, Jill R Herb of Pitman, Jennifer L Martin of New Oxford, and Jessica L Leibig of Pottsville; a grandson Travis E Hinkel of Ashland; five great grandchildren; and a sister Ruth N Kieffer of Klingerstown. Funeral services were held at St. John's "Kimmel's" Church, Deep Creek Rd, Ashland, on Friday, November 5, 2010, at 11:00 AM, with Rev Bonnie Yeager officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday at the church. Burial was made in St. John's "Kimmel's" Cemetery, Ashland.
