James G Kroh, Sr., age 60, of 324 W Wiconisco Street, Muir, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his home. He was born on Thursday, February 9, 1950 in Reinerton, a son of the late Herold E Kroh and the late Louise M (Diehl) Kroh. He was a 1968 graduate of the former Porter Tower High School. He was employed at Dayton Superior, Tremont, until becoming ill. He was of the Christian Faith. He was a member and past president of the Porter Tower Lions Club; a life member and secretary-treasurer of the Muir Volunteer Fire Company; a member of the Orwin Gun Club; a member of Steel Workers Union Local 12438; president of the Porter Twp Firemen's Relief Association, and a member of the Tower City Moose. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid dart player. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Kroh. He is survived by his wife, Karen L (Schrope) Kroh, to whom he was married for 38 years. He is also survived by a son, James G Kroh, Jr of Muir; a granddaughter, Carianna L Kroh; a brother, Dale A Kroh of New Jersey; two sisters, Lorraine L McEntee of Reinerton and Sandra L Shade of Sacramento; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles Oldland officiating. A viewing was held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial was made in St. Peter's Cemetery, Orwin.
