James Marvin Geist, age 58, of 630 E Main Street, Hegins, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, October 17, 1953, in Ashland a son of Marvin E and Betty (Dunkelberger) Geist of Hegins. He was a 1971 graduate of Tri-Valley High School. He was employed as press operator for Moen, Pine Grove for 39 years. He was the former Chief of the Hegins Fire Company for over seventeen years. He is survived by his wife Wendy M (Straub) Geist, to whom he was married for 12 years. Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife are three daughters Lynn McClucas and her husband Thomas of Tremont, Tammy Fredericks and her husband William of Pottsville, and Cathy Yordy and her husband Henry of Donaldson; two step sons Jim Shoop of Gratz and Patrick Shoop and his wife Bonnie of Gratz; a step daughter Kim Dreisbach of Klingerstown; thirteen grandchildren; two sisters Mary Ann Willier of Hegins and Deborah Buffington of Hegins; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Friday, December 16, 2011, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating. A viewing was held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday at the funeral home. Burial was made in the Church of God Cemetery, Valley View.
