Obituary

Jackie L. "Tater" Gottshall Jr., age 56, of Dornsife, passed away Monday, April 1, 2024 at his residence.

He was born on Wednesday, December 20, 1967, in Shamokin, a son of Carol E (Rothermel) Shinskie of Gowen City and the late Jackie L Gottshall, Sr.

Tater was a 1985 graduate of Shamokin Area High School.

He was a heavy equipment operator for Keystone Anthracite, Trevorton.

Tater was a member of the Line Mountain Four Wheelers, Lower Mahanoy Trap Club, East Cameron Fire Company, and president of the West Cameron Nimrods.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He was preceded in death by his step father, Russell F Shinskie, Jr.

He is survived by a step son, Jordan Pope and his wife Rebecca; two step grandsons, Alexander and Clayton Pope; three sisters, Debra Novinger and her husband Paul, Tammy K Haas, and Cindy Bogetti and her husband Joe; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm on Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gowen City.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alexander and Clayton Pope Scholarship Fund, c/o Link Bank, 4231 State Route 147, Herndon PA 17830.

Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Inc., Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
